"She has that big extra! This is more than just jazz this is music. Damn good music!" "Jazzporten"

Vidya is born in Pune - India and grew up in Sweden. She is a strongly intuitive musician and her music flows freely between jazz pop world and improvisation. Vidya developed her musical prowess at The University of Gothenburg, eventually cultivating a unique style that respected publication Hymn describes as "Genre Free". This atypical creative journey eventually led to Vidya's debut album Peace Play, which received a range of complimentary reviews in Swedish music magazines, amongst them being Swedens biggest and most respected newspaper Dagens Nyheter. Her second album The Papillon came in 2022 and was released at Havtorn Records. The Papillon has a unique story to it as well and the album received wonderful reviews from both national and international media.

Vidya plays her music together with jazz drummer Jon Fält, acoustic bass player Magnus Bergström. The three of them gather round the same consensus

that all musical things are worth exploring and the importance to cherish each others inner tone, to give space to individual playfulness.

For Vidyas new album Adi Shakti, due in May 17th 2024, the acclaimed and

ECM recording guitarist Rob Luft join in !

Vidya has co-composed two of the songs with Rob and they also produced the album together.

"The music is satisfying on every level. Vidya has an openness and honesty in her voice that conveys a meaning which goes beyond the words" (All about Jazz)

Musically the song Change the world is both melodic and free in its structure at the same time

It's playful and genre free" (Hymn)

"An original voice in the Swedish music with exciting compositions

Once she has boken through to you it's almost impossible to stop listening to this album which in its best is a true pearl" (Salt Peanuts)
